Abstract
693,944. Casting-machines. ROSSI, I. May 7, 1951, No. 10706/51. Class 83 (i). A water-cooled mould liner for the continuous casting of metal slab having a width which greatly exceeds the thickness thereof, comprises a lower part having two pairs of spaced parallel end and side walls 6, 7, 1, 2, forming a vertical mould, and an upper part having opposed spaced parallel end walls 6, 7 and outwardly diverging side walls 3, 4, the said end walls being of uniform width throughout. The liner may be of copper, relatively thin, and be mounted on a support 9. The side walls 3, 4 may form a diamond-shaped chamber 5 for the molten metal into which the feed pipe 8 dips. The angle at 10 should be over 160 degrees. Specification 437,064 is referred to.
