Abstract

689,910. Bearings. STAUB, H. K. March 12, 1951 [April 26, 1950], No. 10307/50. Class 12 (i). A plummer block comprises a housing 1, a resilient insert 5 of rubber or like material, and a metal bush 4 bonded to the insert 5 and forming a bearing for a shaft. The resilient insert 5 is shaped to co-operate with the interior of the housing 1 and is inserted in an aperture in the base of the housing. Preferably in its uncompressed state the insert 5 extends below the base of the housing so that variation of the resiliency of the insert may be obtained by tightening of the holding-down bolts. The resilient insert is preferably of neoprene and the bush of the selflubricating kind formed from powdered metal impregnated with graphite and lubricating oil.
