Abstract
689,465. Moulds. MARSHALL & CO. (LOXLEY), Ltd., T., and HOWSON, H. O. Feb. 12, 1951 [Feb. 21, 1950], No. 4354/50. Class 83 (i). A feeder head for an ingot or like mould is lined with tiles, each having a plane inner face and a reduced thickness over an area not at the edge of the tile. The tiles may be recessed at 15, Fig. 1, and fitted into a separate hot-top or in recesses in the top of the mould 10. The recesses 15 may be left empty or be filled with insulating material such as vermiculite, diatomite or asbestos in granular, plastic or slab form. In a modification the top edge 26, Fig. 5, is thick and a central rib 28 is thick at the top and thin at the bottom. This tile may comprise two pieces, 26 being separate from 27, 28. The recesses need not be of uniform depth as shown at 30 ... 32, Fig. 8.
