Class 118 (i) [Also in Group XVIII] An indicating device comprises a supporting frame A carrying a plurality of juxtaposed indicator members a in the form of strips individually displaceable in and separately removable from the frame, each presenting a highly. polished substantially continuous surface for the reception of one or more highly polished indicator elements Cl ... C4 of thin flexible sheet material affixed thereto and adhering without the use of a separate adhesive substance. The frame A has a backboard B which supports a printed chart D and the strips a which are made of transparent plastic or glass are stacked edge to edge on the chart D, their ends being received in a rebate in the frame. A similar but wider strip b is positioned on top of the uppermost strip a to serve as a heading indicator member and a gap is left between the member b and the frame so that the strips a, b can be moved to facilitate their interchange or replacement. They are removed from the frame by bowing them outwardly so that their ends clear the rebate. The elements Cl ... C4 are made of poly-vinyl-chloride having at least one highly polished surface and bearing any desired indication, and these are pressed onto the transparent strips with their polished side to the strip so that they adhere. The other side of each element may be polished so that another element may be superposed or it may be matt so that it may be written on. One or more cursors F sliding in slots G in the top and bottom of the frame may be provided. The frame may be provided with hinged clips to facilitate the removal of the strips.
