Abstract

688,365. Punches. CLARKE-BUILT, Ltd. Nov. 5, 1951, No. 25813/51. Class 83 (iv). In punches and dies for holing soft metals lubricant is supplied to the cutting edges of the tools in controlled amounts. As applied to a die 1 co-operating with a punch 3 lubricant is supplied from a reservoir 10 to an annular recess 7 in the die and flows through radial passages 8 to an annulus 4 where it is held by capillary action. On movement of the punch a small amount of lubricant is taken up. A felt pad 13 may be inserted in the recess 7.
