687,374. Photographic cameras. DODIN, L. J. E. A. Aug. 29, 1950 [Aug. 30, 1949, March 20, 1950], No. 21361/50. Class 98 (i). A photographic camera of the kind employing mirrors for reflecting the image-forming rays on to a light-sensitized surface at the front of the camera is so constructed. that, when in use, the light-sensitized surface 8 is disposed facing the rear of the camera with one edge close to the objective 1, and the camera comprises plane mirrors 5, 7 so disposed that light entering through the objective is reflected from mirror 5 to mirror 7 and from mirror 7 to the surface 8, and a partition 11 near the edge of surface 8, between the latter and the objective 1, for preventing the passage of light on to the surface 8 after reflection from mirror 5 only. As applied to a reflex camera, the second mirror is movable, and for focusing is swung down over the sensitized surface which it shields from light. At the end of this movement a betweenlens shutter is opened to form an image, after reflection in the first mirror (which is fixed), on a focusing screen. To make an exposure, the movable mirror is released and the shutter closes at once, ready for operation to make the exposure when the mirror has reached its correct position to reflect the image on to the sensitized surface. The focusing screen may be pivoted and may be surrounded by a collapsable hood.
