687,130. Hall effect devices. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 15, 1951 [Nov. 15, 1950], No. 26783/51. Class 40 (iv). [Also in Group XXXVI] The magnetic field perpendicular to the surface of a Hall plate 10 is produced by a large current passing through a fine conductor 20 adjacent and parallel to one edge of the Hall plate. This current is supplied over larger heat-dissipating conductors 21, 22 from a source 2 while the longitudinal current is supplied through electrodes 11, 12 from a source 1. The potential developed between electrodes 16, 17 is proportional to the product of the currents from sources 1 and 2, either of which may be direct or alternating. Preferred dimensions are given.
