Abstract
685,615. Liquid-fuel burners. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd. Feb. 24, 1950 [March 25, 1949], No. 8228/49. Class 75(i) A liquid fuel burning appliance has a constant level fuel feed device including a cylindrical reservoir 1, Fig. 3, which when placed on its support, comprising a member 13 and a casing 15 having curved upper edges, is rotatable into a position where a valve 7, Fig. 5, mounted in the reservoir filler cap 3 is opened by engagement of the stem 4 thereof with a surface 20 in the casing 15, thus allowing fuel to flow into the casing 15 and thence to the burner 17 through a swivelled tubular arm 16, the fuel level being maintained constant in the casing 15, but being adjustable within limits by varying the level of the valve 7 by slight rotational adjustment of the reservoir 1. A guide plate 34 projecting from the reservoir 1 engages the upper surface of the casing 15 when the valve stem 4 is vertical. The casing 15 contains a filter 21 through which the fuel passes via an adjustable flow restrictor 24 in a passage 22 to a trough 23 supplying the burner tube 16. The mounting of the appliance provides for easy inspection, adjutsment, and cleaning of the appliance e.g. when it is incorporated in a refrigerator. The reservoir 1 may be withdrawn after turning so that guide plates 18, 19 thereon, which normally engage the ends of the casing 15, clear the latter, and the support 13 may then be rotated about a pivot 29 into a horizontal position, the movement being transmitted by a rod 30, Fig. 7, to a trip lever 31 which depresses an L-shaped arm 36 to free the casing 15 from the frame 10 on which it is mounted, so that it can, together with the burner 16, be swung through a rightangle about a pivot 28. Specifications 518,610, [GroupXXIX], 656,707 and 685,606 are referred to.
