Abstract

684,202. Agricultural implements. KELSEY, C. W. Dec. 4, 1950 [Dec. 14, 1949]. Vo. 29605/50. Class 6 (i). A rotary soil-working tool comprises a metal disc so shaped that spaced points around its circumference form a spiral extending throughout the major portion of its periphery. Fhe tool shown in Figs. 1 and 2 is dished as shown and has a central plain portion 7 provided with bolt holes 9 for securing the tool in position. The edge of the tool may be smooth as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or it may be toothed. In Fig. 8, three toothed tools 26, 27, 28, are mounted at either end of a shaft 18 which is driven by a shaft 15. The shaft 18 is mounted in bearings in a housing 20 which has on each side a rim 22 which forms a bearing for a hub 24 keyed to the shaft. Holes around the flange 33 of each hub receive one end of a pin 35 whose other end fits into a hole of a spacing collar 30 and whose enlarged central portion fits into one of the holes 9 of the tool. The other tools and collars are similarly mounted and an end cap 36 is bolted as shown at 21 to the shaft 18 to hold the tools in place. Removal of the cap permits endwise removal of all the tools and collars. The high points of the three tools are 120 degrees apart.
