Abstract
681,131. Unit air heaters. CAUCHANER, D. Jan. 11, 1951, No. 835/51. Class 137 [Also in Group XI] A unit air heater comprises an air-permeable casing enclosing a heating element and a fan which draws air into the casing through inlet apertures and discharges heated air through its porous walls into the room. An electric heating coil 10 is resiliently mounted on spring-like conductor supports 14 and 15 in a closed casing 11 made of air permeable brick, concrete or building sheets. The casing is mounted on the top 12 of a base compartment 13, a fan 22 being mounted above an opening 21 in the top 12 so that air may be drawn into compartment 13 through holes 24 and discharged past the coil 10 into the casing 11, the thus heated air passing out through the porous walls and top of the casing into the room space. The current supply to the coil 10 and fan motor 19 may be thermostatically controlled.
