Abstract

681,113. Clearing arrangements in spinning machines. CONTINENTALE D'APPLICATIONS TECHNIQUES. Aug. 3, 1950. No. 19448/50. Class 120(iii) [Also in Group XXIX] In a pneumatic cleaning apparatus for spinning machines, a fan 13 draws air containing waste material e.g. broken rovings and dust, through orifices in pipes 9 and a filter 14, and the cleaned air is distributed to blower boxes 23 which are connected successively and in predetermined order with a collector casing '21 so that jets of air are directed downwardly over the machine thrbugh outlets 25. Air distribution means may comprise individual hinged, rotary, or lift valves (see Group XXIX), for each box; they may be operated by cams keyed on a common drive shaft and bearing directly on an extension of the valve element or actuating oscillatory levers flexibly connected to the valves; by apertured discs geared'to separate but synchronously rotating electric motors; by solenoids energized in response to either cam operation of mercury switches or the impingement of beams of light intermittently projected through a rotating apertured disc on to photo-electric cells; or by pneumatically or hydraulically controlled pistons. In a modification each box is connected to the collector by an' individual casing the distribution of filtered air being controlled by an'opening in a disc to which intermittent rotary movements are imparted. In an application of the invention to an installation comprising a series of parallel spinning machines, Figs. 12, 13 (not shown), a collector for each machine is connected by a filtering group with a general collector connected to a fan which discharges air through an additional filter into a casing extending the length of the installation and communicating with each of a series of correspondingly extending. blower boxes each comprising blower conduits, one for each machine, each having a series of downwardly directed openings the air being successively distributed to each box.
