Abstract

678,686. Glassware. FEDERAL GLASS CO. April 17, 1951 [April 20, 1950], No. 8952/51. Class 56. In the making of stemmed or footed glassware, e.g. a wine glass, comprising a body joined to a base, the body is formed with a solid projection 11 and the base with a projection 15 which may be the stem. The ends of the projections are heated and pressed together, becoming welded to one another with the heating and welding taking place at a point away from the bottom of the body thus avoiding any deformation thereof. The body and base may be of different colours or compositions.
