Abstract

678,535. Telegraph exchange systems. STAATSBEDRIJF DER POSTERIJEN, TELEGRAFIE EN TELEFONIE. Aug. 1, 1950, No. 19240/50. Class 40 (iii). In an arrangement for supervising the operation of the armature a of a relay by means of a condenser-resistance circuit in combination with a valve B and a supervisory relay AR, the valve B is conductive when the armature a is in the position shown, but the relay AR is unoperated since current flows through the winding 1-2 in addition to that flowing through the winding 3-4 from the battery V<SP>1</SP>, V<SP>2</SP>. When the armature a moves to the opposite spacing position current through the winding 3-4 is interrupted and the valve B is rendered non- conducting so that the winding 1-2 is initially without current. After a time determined by the values of C<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>1</SP>, the grid of the valve B loses its negative charge, the valve conducts, and if the armature is still in the spacing position the relay AR operates. A holding circuit may be closed at contact ar, and the circuit can be broken at s when required. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a rectifier is used to short circuit the operating winding of the supervising relay when the valve is conductive and the armature to be supervized is in its normal (mark) position. When the armature moves to its other position the short circuit is removed and the winding is energized when the valve, after a predetermined time, is rendered conducting, if the armature is still in its operated position. The second winding of the relay is in series with a normally open locking contact which closes when the relay operates and holds it operated. Specification 655,371 is referred to.
