Abstract

678,182. Hairwaving appliances. CALLINAN, GILES & CO., Ltd. March 19, 1951. [March 30, 1950] No. 7965/50. Class 131. A scalp-protecting pad, for use in permanent waving and through which the hair is threaded, is provided on each of two opposite edges, with a flexible lug apertured to receive the end of a curler rod on which a tress of hair has been wound. As shown, extensible lugs 13 are moulded integrally with a sponge.rubber pad 10, ribbed or dimpled at 17 as disclosed in Specification 663,482, an aperture 11 allowing the passage of a tress of hair and the lugs being apertured at 14 to receive the ends of the curler. In modifications the pad is plain and the apertures formed in a rubber strip secured to one face of the pad.
