677,933. Egg dipping apparatus. HISCOCK, P. E. July 13, 1950 [March 9, 1950], No. 5906/50. Class 49. An egg dipping apparatus comprises a tank of preservative liquid, an inclined drip tray discharging into the tank, an endless conveyer of spaced parallel endless chains connected at intervals by cross members, opposed pairs of supports suspended at their upper ends from each cross member, each pair of supports formed to carry at their lower ends a removable basket for eggs, and means for guiding the conveyer so that a basket of eggs is, after loading, lowered into the liquid in the tank, lifted out again, and conveyed above the drip tray to an unloading position. In the embodiment of the drawings, wire frames 15 at the ends of egg baskets 13 serve to locate the baskets in wire loops 14 depending from tubular cross members 6 which are engaged on pins of the chains of a conveyer 5, sprockets 19 serve to guide the conveyer vertically downwards and so immerse the baskets for 7 to 10 seconds in oil at 70-80‹ F. in a tank 2, and yielding brushes 21 on a drip tray 4 in the path of the baskets serve to remove surplus oil therefrom.
