677.456. Motor-vehicle frames. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Nov. 30, 1949 [Nov. 30, 1948], No. 30786/49. Class 79(iv) [Also in Group XXXII] A motor-vehicle frame comprises a middle part and a narrower end part connected to a transverse bearer of the middle part, the transverse bearer running obliquely or with bends from longitudinals of the middle part to the end part and the middle portion of the transverse bearer being straight. As shown the frame is formed of the middle part A, a front end part B and a rear end part C. The end part B comprises longitudinals e and transverse members f, g, the latter member supporting springs for the steerable wheels B<SP>1</SP>. The longitudinals e are connected to the transverse member b of the middle part A. The end portions b<SP>1</SP> of the member b passes through longitudinals a of the part A and is welded thereto at k<SP>1</SP>, k<SP>2</SP>. The longitudinals a are interconnected by a transverse member d or in the case of a vehicle having a combined body and frame by a member t, the ends of which abut the longitudinals a along the whole length thereof. The inner wall of each longitudinal a is welded to the outer wall of the longitudinal h of the frame part C, a transverse member c interconnecting each side and being welded at m, m<SP>2</SP>, m<SP>3</SP> thereto. The longitudinals a, k 'on each side may be formed as one piece. The longitudinals h are interconnected by a transverse member i. Welded to each longitudinal a are pillars n, o interconnected by an arched member p to form a body skeleton, the members n, o, p on each side being braced to each other and to the longi-- tudinals e, h by members q, r.
