Abstract

677,409. Hand-stamps. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Dec. 4, 1950 [Dec. 9, 1949], No. 29612/50. Class 100 (ii). Inking-apparatus.-A hand stamp includes rotatable type-wheels each of which has a plurality of porous resilient type characters 30 around its periphery, and internal ink reservoirs formed by the side-plates 34, 35, flange 28 and hub 27 of each wheel,. the wheel being mounted in a casing having an opening through which a selected type projects, and the type being selected by means of knurled selector plates 44 on the outside of the casing. The wheels are twelve-sided having eleven characters each thereon cemented to the side-plates, the twelfth space being provided with a screw 32 by means of which the reservoir in the wheel may be filled. The side plate is transparent so that in the event of the stamp being dismantled the amount of ink in the reservoir can be ascertained. The casing comprises casing plates 20, 21, spaced apart by a band 24, and formed at their bottom with flats 22, 23, Fig. 1 (not shown). Notched wheels 39 are fixed to the side plates 34 and frictionally engage the selector plates 44 mounted on the outside of the casing plates by screws 43, washers 45 being provided to avoid binding of the selector discs or type-wheels with the casing. The notched wheels 39 co-operate with pawls mounted on the inside of the casing plates, Fig. 5 (not shown).
