Abstract

677,383. Theatres. PERROTTET, A., and STOECKLIN, E. Aug. 16, 1950 [Aug. 16, 1949; June 5, 1950], No. 20380/50. Class 20(i). [Also in Group XV]. A building for theatrical and similar performances comprises a rotatable central floor part 1 of disc shape and a partitionless annular surface 2 surrounding it, the part 1 being tiltable out of the horizontal. The part 1, which may accommodate the audience or be used as an arena, is mounted on a wedge-shaped ring 4 running by means of rollers 5 on a second wedgeshaped ring 6 running on rollers 8. A member 12 and a capstan 11 enable the system to be rotated. If the ring 4 is locked and only the ring. 6 rotated, the inclination of the part 1 is varied. The part 2 is fixed, but segment-shaped parts 13 thereon can be tilted or vertically adjusted, as can the stage 20. A rigid or fabric partition 29, extending half-way round the theatre, separates the parts 1 and 2 and can be raised, lowered or moved circumferentially. Trolleys 41 and illuminating bridges 43 run on rails in the roof and a gangway 45 is provided round trelliswork 31 which supports the partition 29. Illumination is also directed from a control gondola 52 in the ceiling 54.
