Abstract
677,295. Radio receiving apparatus. GLOBEUNION, Inc. April 6, 1950, No. 8717/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (v). [Also in Group XXXV] The tuned circuits in radio receiving apparatus comprise an inductance located on a former of a ceramic material having a temperture coefficient of dielectric constant equal in value but opposite in sign to its temperature coefficient of expansion. The inductance coil winding is preferably located in grooves in the surface of the former and may be deposited therein in any known manner such that it is positively locked to the former. If the ambient temperature increases the former and the winding expand thus increasing the inductance of the winding but, due to the negative temperature coefficient of dielectric constant, the self-capacity of the coil decreases and thus the circuit containing the inductance remains tuned at the desired frequency. The ceramic former may take any shape, e.g. tubular or flat, and the winding may alternatively be deposited on the surface thereof, but in this case the interturn capacity is not substantially all through the ceramic material of the former and the temperature compensation will not therefore be' so complete.
