Abstract

674,898. Presses. BRIGGS MANUFACTURING CO. May 26, 1949 [June 25, 1948] No. 14176/49. Class 140. A press for forming compound sheet materials comprises a fixed platen 22 and movable platens 17-21, upward movement of the lower of which causes vertical movement of the others through the medium of a series of pairs of crossed links 25, 26; 32, 33; 37, 38; 42, 43; 47, 48, each pair being pivotally connected as at 27, and the links of adjacent pairs being pivotally connected together at the ends of the links as at 30, 31 ; 35, 36, and the ends of the links being pivotally connected to the platens as at 28, 29, 30, 31, 50, 51. In the apparatus described, the pivots, other than such as 27, in the form of pins or studs secured to the links extend into elongated slots in brackets 23, 24 and/or the platens to allow a measure of lostmotion.
