Abstract

674,287. Stripping moulded rubber articles from cores. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. June 13, 1950 [July 30, 1949], No. 14744/50. Class 87 (ii) A device for stripping an annular rubber article A from a core C upon which it has been moulded comprises a head B having a central recess 12 and an annular nozzle 11 surrounding the recess engageable with an edge portion of the article which lies upon a shoulder 3 of the core, a valve controlled suction conduit 22 connected to the nozzle to draw the edge portion of the article away from the core and a valve controlled pressure conduit (not shown) for delivering fluid under pressure into the central recess 12 and between the article and the core. The nozzle 11 is formed by two radially spaced annular ribs 14, 15 whose outer edges engage the edge portion of the article lying on the shoulder 3. Between the ribs 14, 15 is an annular screen 17 against which this edge portion is held by suction. The head is suspended from an overhead carriage and has cylindrical walls 18 which receive the core and limit its radial expansion.
