[Also in Group V] A tube of rubber or plasticized polyvinyl chloride is built up on a rubber mandrel and after curing the tube on the mandrel, the mandrel is removed by stretching it longitudinally. A tube may be made by helically lapping neoprene on the mandrel, extruding a layer of rubber over the neoprene, applying textile braid, and then extruding a layer of rubber over the braid. The tube may be reinforced.
