672,887. Handle fixings. BOOTH, G. M. Jan. 6, 1950 [Jan. 6, 1949], No. 363/49. Class 61 (i). The separable shank portions of a brush in which the bristles, fibres or wires are secured between two wires by twisting them are secured in an axial hole in a handle A by a pin or screw E which passes through a ferrule C, the handle A and between the arms of the shank to force them apart and into the walls of the axial hole. The separable shank portions may comprise the twisted wire ends G of a looped brush or may be formed by folding upon itself a single twisted wire shank or the end of a single twisted wire shank may be untwisted to form the separable portions. Ferrules adapted to fit on handles of various cross section and provided with various shapes of slot to receive the wire shank are described.
