671,667. Pneumatic discharge from a container. AMALGAMATED ROADSTONE CORPORATION, Ltd., and GLENDINNING, S. A. Feb. 7, 1950. [Feb. 11, 1949] No..3775/49. Class 78 (i). A transportable container for powdered materials, of the kind provided with a porous wall or lining through which a pressure fluid can be admitted into the powder to aerate the powder, is sealed to the atmosphere to enable the pressure of air or gas to build up in the container to effect the discharge of the powder through a valve-controlled outlet against gravity. Fig. 1. Sealed container 10, having conical parts 11 and 12 and supply cover 22, is provided with a lining 19 of welded wire mesh covered by a sheet 20 of hard-pressed felt. Air is introduced at 21 and percolates through the material 23 in the container up to the space 24, the material being discharged by the air pressure up pipe 15 fixed at 16 and 17 to the container and with extension 13 acting as an automatic valve for the material. Fig. 2. The container has part 12 perforated and enclosed by chamber 30, air being supplied at 21 to aerate the material and at 37 to discharge it up pipe 15 under the control of valve 38. The perforated part 12 may be replaced by a layer of coarse concrete surmounted by a layer of finer concrete to act as a porous wall. The container may also have the extension 14 of Fig. 1.
