667,892. Feeding articles in predetermined attitude. LOUVROIL-MONTBARDAULNOYE. March 14, 1950 [March 29, 1949], No. 6309/50. Class 117 An apparatus for arranging cylindrical articles comprises a magazine formed by one or more parallel supports 1 inclined to the horizontal between upper and lower stops 2, 13, each support having thereon or adjacent thereto the upper run of a moving endless chain 4 which has a number of prominent links 5 arranged so that articles dumped into the magazine are dragged upwardly thereby and aligned by contact with the upper stop 2. Aligned articles run down on the supports 1 and build up on themselves to form layers, the bottom layer extending down to the stops 13 and successive layers extending down to adjustable stops 9 positioned above and slightly " upstream " of the stops 13. The stops 9 ensure that the articles are presented singly at the stops 13 for engagement by ejecting fingers 16 arranged to lift the presented article over the stops 13 into a runway 17 from which it is fed by a pusher 19. The stops 13 may be adjusted according to the diameter of the articles.
