Abstract
667,753. Jet-propulsion plant. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. April 26, 1950. [May 13, 1949] No.. 10247/50. Class 110(iii). A gas turbine has a cylindrical casing 11 terminating in a variable exhaust nozzle 15 which comprises a retractile flexible end portior and a retracting element such as a band 30 which is actuated by a member such as a screw - threaded bolt 32. The nozzle 15 comprises a frustoconical member 21 and a liner 25 which have equally spaced and staggered slots therein to form flexible leaves 27. The liner is welded to the member 21 and to a cylindrical inner wall 22 which supports the fairing 23. The band 30 has flanges 31 provided with aligned apertures to receive the bolt 32. The outer leaves 27 may have bosses to prevent dislodgment of the band.
