In a gas cooker of the kind having an oven heated by a long burner b or burners producing a stream of hot gas rising substantially vertically near the oven wall d, the lower edge of the air inlet provided in the burner enclosure a is formed by an inwardly inclined louvre-like part e. A supplementary air inlet, its upper edge formed by an inwardly inclined louvrelike part h, may be provided at the opposite side of the burner enclosure. The downwardly directed air stream from the supplementary inlet does not affect the direction of the hot gas stream.
