Abstract

665,505. Velocity-modulated tubes. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. June 29, 1949 [July 10, 1948], No. 17251/49. Class 39 (i). In a reflex klystron a grid electrode 5 located between the cavity resonator 2 and the reflector electrode 6 to form a field free space 4 adjacent the resonator, is orthogonal to the paths of the electrons so that the electrons follow the same paths on their return travel as on their forward travel. The grid 5 and reflector electrode 6 are as shown, hemispherical and concentric about the opening 3 in the cavity resonator. The electron beam is conical. The electron beam may, however, be flat and the electrodes 5, 6 cylindrical, or disc-shaped, and the electrodes toroidal.
