Abstract
A moulding composition comprises a mixture of from 40 to 60 per cent of interiorly and exteriorly coloured granules of a normally hard, tough and non-brittle synthetic resin and from 40-60 per cent of clear colourless granules of a similar type of synthetic resin of which at least 40 per cent has transverse particle sizes of from 0.010 to 0.025 inches. Optionally a major proportion of the coloured granules may have transverse particle sizes of from 0.005 to 0.015 inches. The mixtures are used for making dentures by adding a polymerizable monomer, e.g. methyl methacrylate, and moulding to shape. The synthetic resins may be polymers of methacrylates, e.g. methyl, allyl, and methallyl methacrylates, polystyrene, copolymers of methacrylates and styrene and copolymers of methylacrylates or styrene with another monomer, e.g. divinyl benzene.
