Abstract

665,213. Step ladders. STEPHENS & CARTER, Ltd., and PILBOROUGH, A. W. April 20, 1950 [May 31, 1949], No. 14580/49. Class 20(ii) Step ladder comprises hand rails 5 folding with the ladder and forming the top element of a parallel motion device the lower element of which is the platform 4 at the top of the steps and the other elements of which are the ladder side members 1 and a pair of struts 6 extending between the platform 4 and the handrails. The struts 6 and the handrails 5 are pivoted on a cross bar 7. The platform 4 is pivoted on the side members 1 and has a slot 4a in which is slidable a rod 8 fixed to the rear struts 3.
