[Also in Group XIII] In a gas-heating furnace (see Group XIII) having two coaxial systems A, B of tubes through which the gas to be heated flows, one system A heated predominantly by radiant heat from combustion gases from a burner 4 and the other by contact with the combustion gases, some of the exhaust gases are returned by a fan 15 to the combustion chamber 1, and pass between the tubes of the system A so as to prevent contact of the fresh combustion gases with the tubes. A sheet-metal cylinder 16 surrounds the tube system A.
