Abstract

663,247. Crutches. CONCENTRIC MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. July 12, 1949 [May 4, 1949], No. 11853/49. Class 81 (ii) In a crutch comprising a staff 1 carrying a handle 3 and a clip 2 for engagement by the forearm, the clip 2 is pivoted about a horizontal pin 9 to the upper part 12 of the staff so that, when in a stationary position, the user can perform arm and hand movements while the crutch remains clipped to the arm. The staff 1 is formed of telescopic sections 4, 5 secured in any desired adjusted position by spring- loaded studs 6 engaging in aligned holes 7; after adjustment the outer ends of the studs may be rivetted over. The upper part 12 of the staff has a plug and socket engagement 13, 14 with the lower part 1 and is secured thereto by a further spring stud 6. The base of the section 4 is spun over to provide a flat surface 16 which tends to reduce wear on the inside of the foot 17.
