Abstract

661,836. X-ray tubes. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Sept. 20, 1949 [Oct. 27, 1948], No. 24158/49. Class 39 (i). The rotary anode of an X-ray tube comprises a number of separate discs 23, 24, 26, the last forming the actual target. This is mounted by a large rivet 27 on the disc 24, this in turn being supported from disc 23 by rivets 25. The whole structure is attached by a stud 22 to a rotor shell 16 of conventional construction. The increased surface area thus provided increases the heat dissipated by radiation, which may be increased still further by using a greater number of discs, as in Fig. 3 (not shown).
