A cardboard or the like box for cones of yarn, formed from a single blank has extensions 22, 23, 25, 26 of end walls 24 folded inwardly to form partitions, and extensions 14, 15 of the side walls 28, 35 forming covers. Tongues 40 on the cover 15 pass through holes 33 in the cover 14 and then into slots 42 to maintain the box closed. Holes 31, 32 and 37 receive the projecting ends of cores of the cones 46, the holes 31 also receiving the lower ends of cores in an identical box stacked on top.
