Abstract
660,148. Toy yachts. WALLENBERG, V. H. Nov. 10, 1948 [April 21, 1948; Sept. 15, 1948], Nos. 29228/48 and 29229/48. Class 132 (iii). A model yacht comprises two inflatable pontoons between which is disposed a central element supporting a mast and a pivoted centerboard swingable in the plane of symmetry of the yacht. Both the mast 30 and the centerboard 53 are attached to supports that are slidable in a fore and aft direction along a central deck board 1 and the pivoted centerboard 53 is sheeted to the staysail 59. The direction of tacking can be controlled by a sideways pull on a trailing tow rope 73. The mainsail 32 is belayed to a pivoted stern fin 64 held out of the water by the sail. When the tow rope is jerked the main sail 32 is released from the fin to cause wind aft sailing and the fin 64 swings about its pivot to dip into the water. According to a modification the central element is a pair of spaced apart tubes each tube comprising two interengaging parts. In both constructions the masts comprise a number of interengaging elements and the yacht itself is readily reduced to its component parts. The pontoons 5 may be deflated and rolled up.
