[Classes 103(iv) and 103(i)] A carriage has a body wall consisting of a system of structural beams of channel form having outer shell plates secured by means of rivets to the webs of the beams, the inner side of the wall having a suitable cover subdivided into sections so spaced that the rivets of the outer shell are accessible from the inside of the carriage between the sections, the spaces between the sections being covered by resilient strips or mouldings adapted to be pressed into position between the inner cover sections without any securing means other than the natural resiliency and friction of the strips, the strips being capable of assembly or removal independently of the remainder of the wall. In the embodiment shown, Fig. 1, metal plates 5, 6, of the wall are riveted at 8 to the web 7 of a substantially channel sectioned frame beam 1. The beam has flanges 11, 12, to which may be secured inner cover plates 10, 9, respectively, provided with heat-insulating material. The opening 2 of the beam is not covered by the inner plates but is closed by a resilient strip 13. If a window 14 is to be arranged in the wall, Fig. 2, the window is secured to the projecting flange 12 of the beam by means of heat-insulating material 15 and securing members 16.
