Abstract
654,898. Switching systems for heating resistances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 21, 1948, No. 24690. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1947. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XI] A heating system comprises several heating units 2, 3, e.g. a twin heating unit electric hotplate or range, each unit having one or more heating elements 13, 14 controlled by a switch 19 for each unit, an extra heating element 15 in each unit, and a switch 25 connected with the elements 15 so that the element 15 of one unit only may be energized at the same time. The element 15 is in parallel with the elements 13, 14 which are in series. The switch 19 energizes the element 14 separately or in series with the element 13. In Fig. 4 each unit has three elements 28-30 in series, and the elements 30 of one unit only may be energized separately by a switch 40 common to both units, the element 30 of the other unit being energized only in series with the element 29 or elements 28 and 29.
