[Class 116] Apparatus for measuring and dispensing fluid embodying an indicating device, a predetermining device and a measuring device adapted to drive the predetermining device through the intermediary of the indicating device is provided with a transmission connecting the indicating device to the predetermining device which transmission includes a uni-directional transmission device and a ratchet mechanism, the driving element 34 of the ratchet mechanism being connected to the driven element 33 of the uni-directional transmission device and the driven element 35 of the ratchet mechanism being rigidly connected to the drum of lowest denomination 29<SP>1</SP> of the predetermining device. The predetermining device 29 is set, by means of a handle 37 on its shaft 36, to the quantity of liquid to be delivered, the movement of the shaft 36 advancing cams 28 and so raising levers 27, the ratchet wheel 35, also on the shaft 36, clipping under the pawl 34. Raising the levers 27 opens a valve 18 through linkage 24, 25, 26. Under the action of a pump liquid enters the inlet conduit 1 and flows through pipe 6, 12, and the valve 18 into a chamber 15 and thence through the hollow stem 16 of a valve 2. The pressure on the upper face of a device 4 (which is sensitive to pressure and is subjected to the action of a spring 5 which tends to close it) is then less than the pressure on its lower face and it and the valve 2 open in spite of the spring 5 and liquid flows into the delivery tube. As the liquid flows from the pump it passes through a measuring device (not shown) which drives the indicating, device 23 and, through a worm 32, a worm wheel 33 free on the shaft 36 but carrying the pawl 34. The indicating device rotates a cam 22 which lifts a lever 40 and, through linkage 19, 20, 21 opens a valve 17 through which liquid also flows into the enclosure 15. The drive from the indicating device rotates the shaft 36 through the ratchet and pawl until the notches or the cams 28 are in a straight line (the position where the preset drums 29 indicate zero) and the levers 27 fall, closing the valve 18. The pressure in the pipe 9 and on the upper face of the device 4 increases, and the valve 2 closes. Liquid continues to flow at reduced speed through the pipe 11, the valve 17 and the hollow stem 16 up to the moment when the lever 21 falls into the notch of the cam 22 of the indicating device 23, a moment which corresponds to the end of the delivery.
