Abstract

653,132. Retractable undercarriages. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT Ltd., and MILLARD, D. J. Aug. 13, 1948, No. 21344. [Class 4] A. hydraulic system for operating a retractable undercarriage including a retractable component and a fairing therefor comprises separate double-acting jacks W, F for operating the component and fairing respectively, a pair of supply pipe-lines for each jack, a non-return valve w in one pipe-line of the componentoperating jack W, which valve is normally closed but is opened by the fairing jack F when the latter has completed its movement to open the fairing, and a second non-return valve f in one pipe-line of the fairing-operating jack F, which is also normally closed but is opened by the component-operating jack W when the latter has completed its movement to retract the component. In the case of a tricycle undercarriage, three component -operating jacks and a similar number of fairing jacks are arranged in parallel with a common pressure liquid source, Fig. 2 (not shown).
