Abstract

653,106. Moulding shoe welts, hems, ornamental ribbons, &c. BATA, NARODNI PODNIK. July 2, 1948, No. 17843. Convention date, July 21, 1947. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group VII] A thread 3, Figs. 1, 2, of rubber in plastic condition, of colour to imitate a sewing thread is pressed - into contact with a strip 4 of welt material of rubber, in similar condition, and the two parts 3, 4, thus united together are secured to the edge of a rubber sole 12 by a toothed roll 11 which imparts stitch effect B and stitch-separating marks 14 to the welt. The thread and welt strip may be extruded either from two separate nozzles 1, 2 or through a single nozzle. The applied welt and sole are vulcanized together. U.S.A. Specification 2,093,523 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the method of imitating stitches may also be used on ornamental ribbons, hems and the like. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
