Abstract

[Class 7(vi)] [Also in Group XVIII] A liquid fuel metering device comprises a rotatable member b within which is freely slidable a measuring plunger o, the travel of which is controlled by an adjustable stop q. The fuel is supplied under pressure through a passage i, Fig. 2, to a chamber d from which lead passages e, f, controlled by radial passages h, g, in the member b, which also control passages j, k, m, n, leading to the fuel injectors. When the passage g coincides with a passage f, Fig. 2, the fuel pressure drives the plunger o to the left, whereby the fuel previously supplied to the left side thereof is driven through the passage h and one of the passages k, j, for injection; similarly when the passage h coincides with a passage e the plunger o is driven to the right to inject fuel through the passage g and one of the passages m, n. The amount of fuel injected is determined by the position of the stop q, which is adjusted automatically according to intake pipe pressure by a diaphragm t attached to a rod w carrying an inclined stop x which adjusts a lever z contacting the stop q, and manually by an arm 7, rotation of which moves an arm 2 laterally through an eccentric 6.
