Abstract

650,353. Rod couplings. GASCOIGNE CO., Ltd., G. H., and GASCOIGNE, G. H. Sept. 22, 1948, No. 24774. [Class 99(i)] A coupling for joining tubes or bars for making skeleton frameworks &c. comprises a sleeve 1 adapted to receive a tube 2 within its bore and having a flange 3 provided with a series of tapped sockets 4 of equal size, and at least one cap 7 adapted to receive the end of a second tube 6 and having a screw-threaded spigot 9 formed on one end for engagement with any of the sockets 4: the sockets may be radial, tangential or at any angle. The sleeve 1 may be fixed to the tube 2 by a screw passed through the sleeve or through one of the sockets; the cap 7 has a tapped boss 11 to receive a securing screw. The bore of the sleeve may be relieved so that the tube 2 is pressed against the resulting raised lands 1c.
