Abstract

649,489. Railway vehicle underframes. BUDD CO. Sept. 28, 1948, No. 25232. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1947. [Class 103(vi)] An end underframe has a centre sill structure comprising two Z-section profiles 26 having their webs vertical and transversely spaced and the upper arms 29 directed toward each other and meeting at the bolster beam 21, thereby forming a hollow section to telescope in the main centre sill 16. The space between the profiles 26 houses the draft-gear 40 and connected between the profiles 26 and the buffer units 45 are diagonal braces 41 which transmit the buffing forces to the centre sill structure.
