Abstract

648,608. Load-handling machines lifting dogs. HUGHESDON, W. G. Feb. 18, 1948, No. 4815. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv)] [Also in Group I] A tractor 12 has a pair of hydraulic thrustors 19 which pivot a double arm 16 about a fixed pivot 22 when they are coupled to a hydraulic pressure system carried by the tractor, and at the end of the arm 16 is a grab 23 which is replaceable by a set of tines, Fig. 5, or hedge-cutting shears (not shown), all of these units being self-contained and having a double-acting hydraulic thrustor easily connectable with said hydraulic pressure system. The grab 23 comprises a pair of U-shaped members 32, Fig. 3, secured at one end to a tine carrying bar 33 and pivoted at the other to a rod 26 secured to brackets 25 detachable from the arms 16, said members 32 being operatively connected by links 44, 45 with opposite ends of the thrustor 24. A toggle link 36 which has a movement limited by abutments 39, 41 serves to limit the movement of the grab jaw 29, while spring 42 and the abutment of bar 33 on the arm 16 limit the movement of jaw 28. Pivotally mounted on the front of member 16 is a pusher device 48 which assists in heaping the material prior to the lifting operation. , The tines 62, Fig. 5, constitute a loadhandling platform and are secured to a member 63 which is pivoted to a detachable bracket 60 so that the tines can contact the ground throughout their whole length, discharge of material therefrom being effected by means of a thrustor 75, which is coupled to the flexible pipes 47 to which the thrustor 24 was previously connected and is connected with a push plate 66 by a multiplying linkage 68.
