Abstract

648,439. Garment hangers. LEWIS SPRING CO., Ltd. Oct. 4, 1948, Nos. 25793/48 and 12302/49. [Class 52 (v)] A coat hanger comprises two arms 17, 18 which slide in overlying relationship within a housing 24. The arms 17, 18 are formed with slots 17b, 18b which connect circular apertures 17c, 18c. The lower end 20a of the suspension hook passes through a bush 24b and is fixed to a locking member 25 which engages in registering apertures 17c, 18c. A spring 26 is connected between the bush 24b and a ferrule 20b. To alter the length of the arms the hook is pressed downwardly against the action of the spring thus disengaging the locking member 25 from the apertures 17c, 18c to allow sliding movement between the two arms.
