[Class 102(i)] '[Also in Groups XVII and XXX] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of liquid from a tank 120 to cartons which are advanced step-by-step beneath filling-nozzles 133, comprises two measuring-cylinders 121 in which work pistons 145 the strokes of which are synchronized with the rotary movements of a pair of valves 134, whereby on the inward strokes of the pistons measured quantities of liquid are drawn into the cylinders through pipes 144 and on the return strokes are discharged through the nozzles. The piston rods 146 are interconnected by a yoke member which is mounted on a slide,147 and coupled by a link 164 to a lever 154 formed with a slot 155 for the reception of a slide block 153 pivoted on a pin 152, the lower end of the lever being pivoted to an arm 156 mounted at its lower end on a fixed pivot 157. The pivot pin 162 interconnecting the lever and arm carries a roller engaging a cam groove 160 in one face of a cam 159 mounted on a drive shaft 9 which also operates the carton-feeding mechanism. The pin 152 is carried by a block 151 which is adjustable in a vertical slot 150 to vary the stroke of the piston and hence the quantity of liquid measured. The valves 134 are interconnected by movement in unison and are oscillated through 90 degrees by linkage operated by a lever arm 174 mounted on a shaft 171 carrying a lever arm 172 on which is mounted a roller 173 engaging a groove 161 in the opposite face of the cam 159.
