[Classes 20(i) and 20 (ii)] Three scaffolding tubes, e.g. of aluminium alloy, are connected together by a U-shaped element 32, Fig. 2, embracing two of the tubes 30, 31 and secured thereto by rivets or removable bolts 33 which pass through the tubes, a jaw 36 and T-bolt 38 hinged to the element 32 clamping the third tube 40. The U-shaped element 32 may be replaced by two separate plates. As shown in Fig. 1 a scaffold frame unit is formed by the use of the elements 32 and are connected to similar units by ledgers 40. To secure superposed frame units together the lower ends of the uprights 30 are formed with slotted spigots 41 which engage the upper ends of the lower tubes 30 and pass over the diametrically extending rivets securing the connecting elements 32 thereto. The connecting element may be formed as described in Specification 641,984 and frame units superposed as therein described. A tubular scaffolding structure for supporting an awning, e.g. of a market stall, may be constructed using elements 32, 32a, Fig. 5, the latter, as shown in Fig. 6, being modified to permit of the horizontal tube 49 to pass over the upper end of the upright 48. Fig. 8, shows a further modified connecting element 32d having nuts 47 welded to the element to receive removable bolts for securing roof truss scaffolding tubes for repairing or erecting a roof as shown in Fig. 7.
