Abstract

645,602. Pipe-cutters. HAMPTON, Ltd., C. & J., and HAMPTON, C. W. Nov. 11, 1948, No. 29280. [Class 61(ii)] A pipe-cutter having V-edged cutting wheels 9 carried by the pivots 6 of the links of a chain the ends of the chain being pivotally connected to a handle 4, is provided with at least one parting tool 3 having a cutting edge wider than the cutting wheels. Each tool 3 is radially adjustable by a screw 12 and is mounted in a slotted cylindrical guide held in the chain by a grub screw 17 or pinch bolt. The screw 12 is connected with the blade 3 by a disc 13. The wheels 9 have a V-shaped cutting edge flanked by flat shoulders to limit the depth of the cut. Alternatively, a V-shaped cutting edge is formed on each flank the intervening part of the body of the wheel limiting the depth of the cut.
