Abstract

645,569. Stair treads. SMALL & PARKES, Ltd., and REDFARN, C. A. Oct. 6, 1948, No. 26018. [Class 20(iv)] A stair tread consists of a metal support having one or more grooves therein, each groove carrying a strip of plasticized polyvinyl chloride. In the form shown, a strip A of suitably coloured polyvinyl chloride having a serrated upper surface is pressed into an undercut groove b in a metal support B and may be secured therein by an adhesive. The tread is secured to the stair C by screws a<SP>2</SP>, the metal support being formed with a nosing b<SP>1</SP> to cover the front edge of the stair.
