Abstract
644,878. Changing signs. BROWN, H. D. Aug. 13, 1947, No. 22543. [Class 3(i)] An advertising drum A for mounting on vehicles or the like is rotated intermittently by a pendulum B which is suspended from a universal pivot C so as to be affected by all vibrations of the vehicle to move an arm D which extends from the pivot up and down whichever way the pendulum swings, the arm D drives a ratchet wheel E through a pawl D<SP>1</SP> to rotate the drum. The pendulum B, Fig. 1, 5, is suspended so that it can swing about two axes C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP> at right angles to each other. The wheel E is prevented from back motion by a pawl F and is mounted on a shaft G which also carries a disc H and an arm L. The disc H pivotally mounts a weighted arm K so arranged that when the weight K passes top dead centre as shown in Fig. 8, it is flung outwards and so by gravity moves the disc H rapidly, this movement causes the arm L to move as Maltese cross N which is on the shaft 10 of the drum A to bring a fresh advertisement into view at a window in a casing P on which the drum is mounted.
